CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Three seeded Ole Miss meets Old Dominion in the preliminary consolation round of the ITA Indoor Team Nationals to begin ITA Kickoff Weekend at 8 a.m. CT on Friday.
Winter Warm-Up
Ole Miss began the 2021 season at the Bulldog Kickoff in Starkville, Miss. (Jan. 16-17). The Rebels tuned-up for ITA Kickoffs by competing against No. 12 ranked Georgia Tech and Memphis in hidden dual matches. Junior Sabina Machalova shined over the weekend collecting three combined victories. Machalova, ranked ITA/Oracle No. 39 individually, won twice in singles, defeating Georgia Tech's No. 13 ranked Kenya Jones and Memphis' Alisha Reayer. As a team, the Rebels were 6-6 in singles and 3-3 in doubles.
Last Time Competing in ITA Kickoffs
The Rebels last competed during ITA Kickoff Weekend in Jan. 2019. The Rebels fell 4-3 to Purdue and 4-0 to No. 9 Michigan. Four active Rebels, Alexa Bortles, Machalova, Tereza Janatova, and Anna Vrbenska competed for the Rebels during the 2018-19 season. Janatova and Vrbenska claimed a doubles victory over Purdue, and Bortles won in both singles and doubles versus the Boilermakers.
