BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Ole Miss offense came to life on Friday at the Blazer Classic, racking up 13 total runs on the way to a sweep of No. 14 Oklahoma State and host UAB at Mary Bowers Field.
GAME ONE | Ole Miss 8, Oklahoma State 5
The Rebels (8-4) fell behind early but showed their mettle in the early game against Oklahoma State (7-4), battling back with seven runs in the final three innings to defeat the Cowgirls 8-5.
Molly Jacobsen was awarded the win after throwing 6.2 innings, surrendering five runs on 10 hits, striking out seven. Ava Tillmann came in for the final out, picking up the first save of her career.
Oklahoma State got off to an early lead, stringing together three singles and an HBP to score a pair of first inning runs, with Michaela Richbourg and Cheyenne Factor picking up RBIs on the play.

Ole Miss put the tying run in scoring position on a two-base error but was unable to bring the run home. The next half inning, OSU regained the two-run cushion with a sacrifice fly to left.
However, Ole Miss flipped the script in the fifth, striking for three runs to claim the lead. It all started with an Amanda Roth walk, with pinch runner Taylor Bachmeyer moving to second on Sydney Gutierrez's sacrifice bunt. Mac Barbara followed with a single up the middle and when the center fielder over ran the ball, Bachmeyer glided home.
A Gillespie single down the left line in the proceeding at-bat put runners at the corners and Ole Miss executed the double steal to tie the game as Nyomi Jones was ruled safe at the plate on an obstruction call. Gabby Alvarez laid down a sacrifice bunt to scratch across Gillespie and give the Rebs the lead, rounding out scoring for the inning.
Ole Miss added what ended up being very important insurance runs in the seventh, with Paige Smith and Jessica Puk knocking an RBI single each before Kacey Hvitved smoked a double to the wall in left center to plate two more runs to extend the lead to 8-3.
The Cowgirls scored a pair of runs in the bottom half off of Richbourg's two-run double to center, bringing the tying run to the plate. Tillmann came in and slammed the door shut, striking out Factor to lock down the save.
GAME TWO | Ole Miss 5, UAB 0

Raegan Cheyne did her job to add another run, putting a ball on the ground to bring Katelin Cooper around.
The Rebels tacked on a run of insurance in the third. Gillespie kept her hot bat going with a double to the right-center gap, coming home to score on Alvarez's clutch two-out single up the middle.
UAB threatened to cut into the Rebel lead, putting a runner in scoring position in the third, fourth and fifth innings. However, Borgen was able to work here way out of danger each time and in the sixth Smith took UAB's Amy Woodham deep to left-center for a two-run home run.
