Men’s Tennis Opens SEC with 4-3 Win at Arkansas

Rebels move to 10-2 on the spring
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- No. 14 Ole Miss Men's Tennis opened conference action Sunday, edging out Arkansas at Billingsley Tennis Center 4-3.
The Rebels move to 10-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play and have now won back-to-back meetings over the Razorbacks.
The Rebels entered singles trailing, but quick play from freshman Nikola Slavic quickly evened up the score. Slavic dominated in his opening set, winning 6-0, and then followed that up with a 6-4 set two to get Ole Miss on the board.
The lead turned into the Rebels hands in almost no time, as junior Finn Reynolds finished shortly after Slavic, outlasting in his second-set tiebreaker 7-4 to put OM up 2-1.
After trailing in his opening set, senior Tim Sandkaulen rallied to win 6-4, and also triumphed in his break, winning 7-5 and handing Ole Miss a 3-1 advantage.
Arkansas picked up a win on Court 5 to trim the gap to 3-2, but the match was officially won thanks to rookie Lukas Engelhardt, who yet again, found the upper hand of a tiebreaker. Engelhardt won his opening tiebreak 7-5, carrying that momentum into the second set, winning 6-4 and giving Ole Miss the 4-2 victory.
The match was played out, where the Razorbacks' No. 111 Alex Reco survived on Court 2 to make the final score 4-3.
