Puk Runs Reached Base Streak to 12 Games in Defeat

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Ole Miss fell behind early and was never able to climb out of the hole, falling 6-1 at No. 23 Missouri Saturday night at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.

Ava Tillmann received the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits and five walks in her five-plus innings of work, striking out four. Anna Borgen came on in relief for one inning, allowing one run on a pair of hits, picking up a pair of strikeouts.

The Tigers (18-6, 2-0 SEC) struck early to garner the lead, scoring a single run in each of the first two innings. Tillmann worked herself out of danger to prevent further damage, leaving the bases loaded in both frames.

The Tigers went on to add a pair of runs in the fourth. Tate Whitley made a heads up play in the outfield, reeling in a ball off of Abbey Latham's glove for the out. However, the play gave the runner at third plenty of time to come home. The Tigers followed with an RBI double off of the right field wall, bringing the score to 4-0.

Ole Miss (12-12, 0-2 SEC) responded to pull back a run in the fifth on Jessica Puk's RBI single through the right side. The Rebels missed out on the opportunity to cash in for more runs as Puk was doubled off at first on a soft liner to short, ending the half inning.

The Tigers added a pair of runs in the sixth and Ole Miss went down quietly in the seventh, wrapping up the victory for the home team.

QUICK HITS
Jessica Puk reached base for the 12th-straight game. The junior has reached base in seven of her last eight plate appearances, registering five hits over that stretch.
• Through the first two games in the series, Ole Miss has left 16 runners on base.
Anna Borgen had her streak of 12-consecutive innings without a run allowed snapped.
