Douglas Tied NJCAA Record with 13 Three-Pointers in a Single Game
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women's basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has announced the addition of junior college transfer Tiya Douglas of Trinity Valley Community College on Wednesday.
Douglas was a key sharp-shooter as a freshman for the No. 1 junior college team in the nation at TVCC that went 32-1 in 2019-20. She was named a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American and an All-Conference honoree after averaging 13.9 points, 3.7 three-pointers, 2.7 rebounds and a 40.3 percent clip from beyond the arc. The Fort Smith, Arkansas, native turned heads after tying the NJCAA record with 13 threes against ETBU on Nov. 13 in a demonstrative 44-point performance.
"We were extremely excited to get a phone call from Tiya to say she was going to be a Rebel," McPhee-McCuin said. "Tiya is a winner. She has won at every level and will only get better here in our system. She is extremely skilled, has high character and embodies the work ethic that is needed to succeed in this conference. We expect Tiya to impact us immediately at the guard position this upcoming season."
Douglas joins a highly-touted Ole Miss signing class from last fall that currently ranks No. 1 in the SEC and No. 13 in the nation per ESPN. In that class are five-star prospects Jacorriah Bracey (Drew, Mississippi/Thomas E. Edwards High School) and Madison Scott (Indian Head, Maryland/Bishop McNamara High School), as well as Snudda Collins (Brookhaven, Mississippi/Brookhaven High School) and Caitlin McGee (Jacksonville, Florida/Sandalwood High School). McGee enrolled at Ole Miss this past spring and joined the team after graduating high school early.
