Mario Garcia Romo Named SEC Men’s Co-Runner of the Week

Garcia Romo Won Individual 6K Title at SEC Preview Last Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss cross country junior Mario Garcia Romo has been named the SEC Men's Co-Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Garcia Romo – a native of Salamanca, Spain and two-time NCAA All-South Region honoree – led the way for the Rebel men at LSU's SEC Preview meet last Saturday, winning his first career individual title with the SEC's top 6K time of 17:23.3. He edged out Arkansas' Emmanuel Cheboson by two seconds for the win in what ended up being a heavyweight bout between the Rebels and Razorbacks to open the 2020 season. Ole Miss, winners of the past two SEC men's titles, finished a narrow second to Arkansas in the team standings by a score of 29-37.
Ole Miss men's and women's cross country will take off this week before traveling to Louisville for the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 3.
