NASHVILLE, Tenn. – No. 23 Ole Miss (1-1, 0-0 SEC) takes on the Miami Hurricanes (1-0, 0-0 ACC) in a neutral site match hosted at Vanderbilt on Friday at 12 p.m. CT.
 
Kicking Off 2021
 
The Rebels opened the spring dual season splitting two matches as part of ITA Kickoff Weekend in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Ole Miss split two matches, defeating Old Dominion 4-2 and falling at No. 1 North Carolina 4-1. Ole Miss was the runner-up in the region.
 
The weekend was highlighted by Ole Miss' doubles performance at North Carolina. The Rebels took the doubles point off UNC as No. 24 Alexa Bortles and Sabina Machalova won over the Tar Heels' No. 3 ranked Sara Daavettila and Alexa Graham 6-4. No. 44 Anna Vrbenska and Tereza Janatova also defeated North Carolina's 45th-ranked Cameron Morra and Elizabeth Scotty 6-3.
 
In singles, Machalova earned her second victory of the season versus a ranked opponent by defeating Old Dominion's 40th-ranked Holly Hutchinson. She is 8-1 in singles in 2020-21 (2-0 in duals).
 
Last Time Facing Miami
 
Ole Miss last competed against Miami at the Miami Fall Invite in 2018. The Rebels won in one doubles match played between the two programs. Ole Miss last faced Miami in a dual at the 2015 NCAA Tournament. The Rebels lost to the Hurricanes 4-3 in the second round.
 
Scouting the Hurricanes
 
Miami opened the season with a 6-1 victory over Florida Atlantic on Jan. 23. The Hurricanes did not compete in the fall season. Last year, Miami won six matches (6-4, 3-2 ACC). The Hurricanes return all six of their starters from last season. Miami features the No. 2 nationally-ranked player, Estela Perez-Somarriba. Perez-Somarriba is a four-time ITA All-American and won the NCAA singles title in 2019.

Ole Miss will compete in their first home match of the season versus Memphis at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
