Volleyball Returns to Play Falling to No. 10 Florida 3-0

Junior Aubrey Sultemeier Hit for a Career-High .545 Clip
OXFORD, Miss. – Facing their third top-10 opponent of the season, Ole Miss was unable to overcome Florida and their offensive firepower, as the Gators hit for .431 on the day with 39 kills.
The Rebels started off the match with a service ace from outside hitter Anna Bair, before trading service errors back and forth with the Gators. An early kill from right side Samantha Schnitta to the left side allowed Ole Miss (0-7) to climb to a 5-3 lead, before Florida (7-2) tied things up at six all. It was a tug of war, with 11 ties in the first set alone. Headed into the first called time out, Ole Miss trailed by one at 15-14. UF began to pull away off a 3-0 run before another timeout was called by the Rebels. Ole Miss utilized kills from Bair and Schnitta to pull within three at 19-16. However, it was not enough as the Gators went on a 6-3 run to close out the first set 25-20.
Middle blocker Aubrey Sultemeier's third kill of the day put the Rebels on the scoreboard to begin the second set, as the two teams traded service errors to allow Ole Miss to lead by two. Florida added its 16th kill of the match to retake the lead and head off on a 6-0 run. In her first match, freshman middle blocker Sasha Ratliff broke up the run with her second kill of the day, to trail 9-6. Ole Miss trailed 15-11 heading into the first timeout of the set.
A kill from Schnitta straight out of the timeout gave the Rebels a surge, but Florida added two quick kills to lead 17-12. Ole Miss pulled within two due to attack errors and another Bair kill before tying things up at 19 all, with two straight kills from Bair and a Florida attack error. The Gators broke the tie with T'ara Ceasar's seventh kill of the match to kick off a 5-0 run, closing the set at 25-21.
Florida came out swinging to start the third set with its 27th kill of the match and began the set up 4-2. The Rebels continued to struggle offensively, as the Gators surged ahead to a 12-5 advantage. Sultemeier continued her strong day with her seventh kill on the way to hit for a career best .545 as Ole Miss cut the deficit 13-8. However, the Gators went on a 12-5 run down the stretch to finish the set and take the match 3-0.
The Rebels return to action for round two against the Gators tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT. The match will air on SEC Network +.
