Middle Blocker Aubrey Sultemeier Records Team-High Eight Kills

OXFORD, Miss. – In the series finale between the Rebels and the No. 10 Gators, 14 service aces from UF became too much for Ole Miss to overcome as they fell to Florida, 3-0.

After the Gators strong serving started off the match with six aces alone in the first set, Ole Miss (0-8) entered the first called timeout trailing Florida (8-2) by six at 7-13. Florida continued its hard-hitting ways from Friday, as the Rebel hitting woes continued. Freshman middle blocker Sasha Ratliff joined alongside setter Gabby Easton for an early block, as the Rebels tried to work their way back with a 3-0 run. However, they were unable to play catch up still trailing at 21-12. Outside hitter GG Carvacho added four kills in the set, but Ole Miss was unable to climb back, falling 25-16.

An Aubrey Sultemeier kill kicked off the set for the Rebels, before Florida took off on a 4-0 run. Ratliff came out swinging with a hard kill up the middle to pull within three at 6-3. The Rebels worked their way back in to the set, but Florida was able to capitalize off of Ole Miss errors to lead 12-8. Florida committed attacking errors of their own, before a Ratliff block put the Rebels within two at 12-10.  The Gators began to put the set away, heading off on a 7-2 run before a challenged Sultemeier kill at the net stemmed the tide. Florida, however, added its 22nd kill of the day to take the set 25-16.

Florida began the third set with two straight kills before Sultemeier's sixth kill of the day put Ole Miss on the board to trail 3-1. Gator attacking errors, along with a Schnitta ace, allowed the Rebels to tie things up at five all. Back-to-back points regained the advantage for the Gators but Ole Miss was able to keep things close and the two sides traded back-and-forth. Kill No. 7 from Sultemeier provided the Rebels energy to bring the set within four at 19-15. The Gator lead began to shrink due to an Anna Bair service ace but Florida claimed five of the final seven points of the match to finish the sweep at 25-19.

Ole Miss continues its two-week homestand with a series next weekend against Alabama Feb. 5-6. Both matches against the Crimson Tide will air on SEC Network + at 2 p.m. CT.
