Anna Bair Totals Double-Digit Kills for Sixth Straight Match

GAINESVILLE, Fla.— In the first of two matches against No. 22 Florida (9-5, 3-1 SEC), Ole Miss struggled to contain the Gators' offensive firepower, falling in three sets Saturday afternoon. The Rebels (12-2, 1-2, SEC) played tight at the beginning of sets, yet was unable to gain momentum down the stretch.

The double-digit kill streak continued for Anna Bair, as she extended it to a career-high six matches with 11 kills on the day. Defensively, Sam Burgio racked up 11 digs, her seventh straight match with at least 10 digs.

The first set began as a back-and-forth affair with ties through six all. The Gators utilized a 6-2 run to build a four-point lead at 12-8. Ole Miss remained within striking distance, yet still trailed by six at 16-10 before a 3-0 Rebel run cut the deficit to 16-13. Florida began to pull away following a 3-0 run to increase its lead to 21-15, which ultimately gave the Gators the advantage to take set one 25-19.

The early part of the second set continued with the same pattern as the first, with both teams tied through 11 all. Florida began to gain control, though, with three straight kills to go up 14-11. Ole Miss struggled to contain the Gator offense as Florida hit at a .507 clip through two. The Rebels continued to fight back but it wasn't enough as Florida claimed set two, 25-14.

Ole Miss fought to stay in the match in set three, going up early 5-3. The Rebels continued to build a lead going up by four at 9-5, but a 5-1 Gator run tied up the match at 10 all. Florida took control after with a 9-2 run to go up 19-12 with set point looming. Despite a late 3-1 to cut the Gator lead to 22-15, it wasn't enough as Florida was able to win the set 25-16 and the match, 3-0.
