Suber Leads Individually Despite Rainy Second Round Conditions

NASSAU, Bahamas – The Ole Miss men's golf team put together a dominant second round in the White Sands Bahamas Invitational, logging a team score of 276 (-12) on the day and producing an eight-stroke lead over Little Rock heading into the final day of competition. The Rebels now hold a two-day team score of 283-276–559 (-17).

The Rebels currently lead the way in par-5 scoring (-21) compared to the rest of the field, while being the only team at the White Sands that has logged more than one eagle in the tournament (3).

Ole Miss is looking to capture its first team tournament title since 2018, when the Rebels won the Hootie at Bulls Bay in South Carolina.

"Our guys did a great job midway through the round of righting the ship after a few three putts and unforced errors," head coach Chris Malloy said. "This course certainly has a lot of birdie opportunities but can really jump up and get you if you're not careful. We need to stay aggressive tomorrow as we were today and we will be just fine."

Continuing what has been an amazing performance so far in Nassau was Jackson Suber, who ended day two atop the leaderboard after logging his second-consecutive round in the 60s with a score of 67 (-5). Suber, who ended his day with five birdies along with an eagle on Hole 2, is tied for first in the field in both total birdies (11) and par-5 scoring (-8).

The Rebel senior will seek his third career individual title on Sunday as he holds a four-stroke lead over San Francisco's Soren Lind and South Florida's Albin Bergstrom heading into the final round of the tournament.

Also making a charge on day two for the Rebels was sophomore Brett Schell, who continued his strong play from the opening round to once again finish under par with a 70 (-2). He made four birdies for the second consecutive round, all coming on the back nine of Ocean Club Golf Course. Schell enters day three tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard (-3).

The biggest jump up the board for Ole Miss came from Evan Brown, whose round of 68 (-4) not only was the second-best of the day for the Rebels, but also helped launch him up 26 spots into a tie for 10th. Brown's round saw a total of six birdies, putting him at eight over the tournament, and his 68 marks his best 18-hole round since arriving at Ole Miss.

Senior Jack Gnam bounced back from a difficult opening round, carding a 71 (-1) for the fourth Ole Miss round in red figures. The Ridgeland, Mississippi, native became the third different Rebel to make an eagle in Nassau this week on the par-5 No. 16, the same hole that teammate Kye Meeks eagled the day before.

In the middle of the pack for the Rebels sits redshirt-freshman Kye Meeks, who ended his day shooting a 74 (+2) to settle in a tie for 22nd individually.

Ole Miss will look to capture the White Sands Bahamas Invitational team and individual titles beginning Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. CT, with the Rebels teeing off from Holes 1-3.
