Rebels Wrap Up First Round of Blessings Collegiate in Eighth

Tamburlini in Top 10 Following Two-Over Finish on Day One
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Ole Miss women's golf team capped off the first day of play Monday from the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in eighth place with a team score of 309 (+21) on the day.
"Today was a good learning lesson for us," head coach Kory Henkes said. "This is a big golf course and it can get away from you really quick if you let it. We can only learn from our mistakes today and can keep moving in the right direction tomorrow."
Putting on the best performance of the day for the Rebels was junior Chiara Tamburlini, who saw her first action of the fall season in Fayetteville. Her round of 74 (+2) currently has her tied for seventh individually, with a team-high three birdies on the day.
Finishing just behind Tamburlini at three-over on the day was redshirt-freshman McKinley Cunningham (T12th). Cunningham's first nine holes of the day saw her at an even par, before eventually adding three strokes to close out her day with a 75 (+3).
Julia Johnson finished at 4-over, shooting a 76 on the day after battling to go even in her back nine following a shaky start. Johnson is tied for 17th on the individual leaderboard.
Rounding out play for the Rebels on the day were Andrea Lignell and Smilla Sonderby. Sonderby finished her day by posting an 84 (+12), while Lignell rounded out play with an 85 (+13).
UCLA has the team lead after carding a team score of 289 (+1). The Bruins sit five strokes ahead of the field heading into day two.
The Rebels will tee off the second round Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. CT off of No. 1. Coverage will be available on the Golf Channel starting at 3 p.m. CT.
