Football Adds Maryland Transfer

Campbell Finished 12th in FBS Last Season in Tackles per Game
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin announced Tuesday the addition of graduate transfer Chance Campbell to the 2021 roster.
Campbell spent the last three seasons at Maryland, playing in 25 games with six starts at linebacker. He will graduate from Maryland in May with a degree in finance before joining the Rebels and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
A native of Ellicott City, Maryland, Campbell earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as a junior in 2020 after leading the team with 43 tackles (22 solo) and 5.5 tackles for loss in just four games. He finished 12th in FBS and second in Big Ten with 11.0 tackles per game.
Campbell tallied a career-best 15 tackles in the season opener vs. Northwestern. He tallied his first collegiate touchdown when he picked up a fumble and ran 34 yards for the scoop and score in a 35-19 win over Penn State. It was the first fumble recovery TD by a Maryland defensive player since 2011. Campbell was named fourth team All-Big Ten by Phil Steele.
He appeared in 10 games with two starts as a sophomore for the Terps in 2019. He finished the season with 54 tackles (fifth on the team) with 37 solo stops and was named a 2019-20 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. As a true freshman in 2018, Campbell played in 11 games and registered 10 total tackles.
A consensus 3-star recruit across all major recruiting outlets coming out of Calvert Hall College High School, Campbell was rated the 20th overall player in the state of Maryland by Rivals/.He was a first team All-MIAA A Conference selection as a junior. He also helped lead Calvert Hall's lacrosse team to an MIAA Conference title as a junior.
