Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Falls 5-2 to No. 14 South Carolina

Rebels Win Doubles 2-0 in Defeat
OXFORD, Miss. – No. 19 Ole Miss (5-7, 4-3 SEC) lost at home to No. 14 South Carolina (9-5, 5-3 SEC) on Sunday.
Ole Miss got off to an optimal start in the match, clinching the opening doubles point 2-0 versus the Gamecocks. Brady Draheim and Simon Junk won first for the Rebels at No. 2 Doubles. Draheim and Junk defeated South Carolina's Jake Beasley and Toby Samuel 6-3 to put the Rebels ahead 1-0. Draheim and Junk improved to 2-4 at No. 2 Doubles this season (5-6 overall).
Jakob Cadonau and Jan Soren Hain clinched the opening decision point for the Rebels by defeating the Gamecocks' Raphael Lambling and Bruno Oliveira 6-3. Cadonau and Hain improved to 2-0 as a team in 2021. Ole Miss claimed a 1-0 match lead, and No. 7 Finn Reynolds and Tim Sandkaulen had their match go unfinished.
The Gamecocks opened singles winning at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions to take the lead away from the Rebels.
No. 62 Sandkaulen won 6-4, 6-2 over No. 118 Connor Thomson to tie the match at 2-all. Sandkaulen earned his second ranked victory of the season (No. 73 Tyler Zink, Feb. 26), and improved to 9-12 in 2020-21. He earned his 86th career singles victory, ranking tied for 11th in program history.
Ole Miss proceeded to fall to South Carolina at No. 1, 6 and 3 Singles in a losing effort to the Gamecocks. Nikola Slavic was the only Rebel to play three sets, falling in a super tiebreaker to No. 81 Raphael Lambling.
