Rebels and Bulldogs to Play for the Series Sunday Afternoon

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss (20-11, 4-4 SEC) scored first but couldn't keep momentum going on Saturday against No. 17 Georgia (22-4, 3-2 SEC), falling 3-1 to the Bulldogs at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

Ann Borgen took the loss in the circle, allowing two runs on three hits in 3.1 innings of work. Savannah Diederich came in out of the bullpen for the second time in as many days, providing 3.2 frames with one run on three hits, striking out five.

Ole Miss pounced first, scoring a single run in the third inning. After Blaise Biringer roped a one-out double over the left fielder's head, Abbey Latham dropped a single into left and Biringer wheeled around third and slid under the tag at home.

Georgia, however, was able to answer the next half inning, stringing together a double, a walk, a triple and a single to plate three runs. The Rebel would go on to load the bases in the home half but couldn't come through with the crucial hit, leaving the score at 3-1 though four.

The Rebels put together a rally in the seventh, putting the tying run on base after a Paige Smith single and an Autumn Gillespie walk. However, Georgia pitcher Alley Cutting was able to halt the momentum, collecting the final two outs to put the game away.

Quick Hits
• The loss halts Ole Miss' program record home winning streak (single season) at 13 games. It was the first loss at the Ole Miss Softball Complex for the Rebels since 2019, marking the end of a 24-game run.
