Rebels Take First Place in SEC West Standings.

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 24 Ole Miss (5-5, 4-1 SEC) upset No. 11 Texas A&M (9-3, 4-2 SEC) 5-2 on Sunday.

Ole Miss has won four of its last five matches (all in conference) and have defeated back-to-back ranked opponents. Ole Miss and Texas A&M split the 2021 season series 1-1. The Rebels won in their first match played at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center since April, 2019.

Ole Miss claimed the opening decision point in a tight doubles session. No. 7 Finn Reynolds and Tim Sandkaulen won first, defeating No. 48 Juan Carlos Aguilar and Bjorn Thomson 6-2. Sandkaulen and Reynolds are undefeated this season since falling to Carlos Aguilar and Thomson in the season opener (Jan. 19). Next, Brady Draheim and Simon Junk narrowly fell to Texas A&M's Noach Schachter and Hady Habib 7-6 (5). In clutch fashion, Jakob Cadonau and Jan Soren Hain won 7-6 (5) to claim a doubles victory for the Rebels. Cadonau and Hain paired together for the first time this season, and Hain earned his first dual victory of 2021.

The Aggies tied the match at 1-1 after claiming a straight-set victory on Court 2. The Rebels proceeded to win three straight matches and clinch the win for the Rebels at 4-1.

John Hallquist Lithén reclaimed the Rebels' lead at 2-1 by defeating Guido Marson 6-4, 6-4. Lukas Engelhardt came from behind to defeat the Aggies' Raphael Perot in three sets, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. Reynolds sealed the victory for Ole Miss by winning 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 over No. 13 Habib. Reynolds avenges his three-set loss to Habib from their earlier match this season. Reynolds has won four of his last five matches, all versus ranked opponents.

The Rebels and Aggies played out the remaining two matches. Junk fell to No. 116 Noah Schachter in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Junk defeated Schachter in three sets in their previous meeting this season. Nikola Slavic defeated No. 33 Juan Carlos Aguilar for the second time this year. After splitting the first two sets in tiebreaks, Slavic won the super tiebreak 11-9 to give Ole Miss a 5-2 win.
