Rebels Sweep Singles, 4-0, in Victory versus Bulldogs
STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 27 Ole Miss (9-7, 5-5 SEC) won 4-1 at No. 40 Mississippi State (10-9, 2-9 SEC) on Friday. The Rebels have won 55 of 62 matches all-time versus the Bulldogs.
In the match, Ole Miss narrowly lost the opening doubles point, 2-1. The Rebels proceeded to win four singles matches to defeat their in-state rivals. Ole Miss earned its fourth ranked win of the season.

How it Happened
The Rebels tried out three new doubles teams versus the Bulldogs. Mississippi State took an opening 1-0 lead by defeating Lillian Gabrielsen and Tereza Janatova at No. 3 Doubles. Next, Ole Miss tied doubles by claiming Court 1. Alexa Bortles and Anna Vrbenska handedly upset No. 14 Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine, 6-2. Tiphanie Fiquet and Sabina Machalova lost the doubles decider, 7-5, on Court 2. Fiquet and Machalova led 5-4 over the Bulldogs' Emma Antonaki and Marta Falceto prior to relinquishing the match and the opening decision point.
In singles, the Rebels won all four matches and concluded with two matches unfinished. At No. 6 Singles, Reka Zadori leveled the match by dominating Falceto, 6-1, 6-0. Zadori won her fourth straight match (all in straight sets). No. 110 Janatova took a 2-1 lead for Ole Miss by winning at No. 3 Singles. Janatova defeated the higher-ranked No. 74 Adaloglou 7-6 (5), 6-2. Janatova earned her second ranked win of the season (No. 52 Rebeka Mertena, Feb. 28). No. 63 Fiquet extended the Rebels' lead to 3-1 by defeating Racine in three sets. Despite losing the first 6-4, Fiquet only lost three combined games in the second and third sets en route to victory. Vrbenska clinched the match for the Rebels at Singles No. 4. Vrbenska grinded out a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory versus Mississippi States' Alexandra Mikhailuk.
Machalova and Gabrielsen had their singles matches go unfinished in the third set. No. 28 Machalova was in prime position to defeat No. 32 Antonaki. She led 5-3 in the final set, one game away from victory, at the time the match was stopped.
Coming Up
Ole Miss returns home next Thursday (April 8) to take on Vanderbilt. The Commodores are currently ranked No. 19 in the nation.
