A 4-0 run brought Ole Miss within one, trailing 14-13. Ratliff's fourth block of the set highlighted a 3-0 Rebel run to pull within two at 22-20 before Ole Miss took control with its eighth block of the set to end a 4-0 run and take the set 25-23.

Ole Miss came into the second set hot with an 8-0 run to take an 8-2 lead, as the Rebel defense remained strong with 11 early blocks. The Rebels led by as many as 13 and were able to hold off short Trojan rallies to pick up the set 25-10 and claim a 2-0 advantage.

Troy came out strong in the third set with six kills to hold a 6-4 lead over Ole Miss. The Rebels trailed by four before a timeout gave Ole Miss a burst of energy to cut the deficit to 9-7. Ole Miss continued to work its way back into the set with a 5-0 run, allowing the Rebs to take their first lead at 12-11. The set continued to play tight, knotted up at 20 apiece before the Rebels gained control with a 5-2 run to knock off the Trojans 25-22 and 3-0.
