Women’s Tennis Welcomes Alabama, Georgia and Kansas State for Fall Invite

Rebels to Host Three Days of Hidden Dual Matches this Weekend
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss will host Alabama, Georgia and Kansas State at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center for the Ole Miss Fall Invite. The three-day fall event begins at 9 a.m. CT on Friday.
All matches for the Ole Miss Fall Invite are scheduled to take place outdoors at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. Matches will be moved indoors to the William F. Galtney Center under unfavorable weather conditions. Masks are required to attend indoor matches.
The hidden-dual, team vs. team, format will begin with doubles among all teams at 9 a.m. CT each day followed by two rounds of singles matches between two opposing teams. The first round of singles matches will begin at approximately 10 a.m. CT followed by the final singles matches at approximately 1 p.m. CT each day. There will be no live streaming of the event.

Rebel Roundup
Sabina Machalova leads the Rebels in the ITA Preseason Rankings as the No. 27 nationally ranked player in singles and No. 48 in doubles (alongside Tiphanie Fiquet). The Rebels will feature a core of young players this season after three seniors graduated last May. Six of 10 Rebels are underclassmen and the team is comprised of two seniors. Three international freshman, Ludmula Kareisová, Rachel Krzyzak and Anaëlle Leclerq-Ficher are expected to compete for spots in the Rebels' lineup this season. Head Coach Mark Beyers enters his 21st season at the helm for Ole Miss.
All About Alabama
Six of eight members of the Crimson Tide are underclassmen this year. The remaining two members of the team, Kasia and Ola Pitak, are graduate transfers. Alabama compiled a 12-13 record last season and were 3-10 in SEC play. Tuscaloosa was a fortress for the Crimson Tide as 10 of their wins occurred at home. Three student-athletes who competed for Alabama at the No. 1-3 singles positions are no longer with the team this year. Head Coach Jenny Mainz's team did not receive any ITA Preseason Rankings for the new season.
Dawgs Details
The 2021 SEC Champion Georgia Bulldogs reached the NCAA Team Championships Quarterfinals last May. Georgia's top player, Katarina Jokic, graduated last year after reaching No. 1 in the individual standings. Despite the loss of Jokic, Head Coach Jeff Wallace's team features three ITA Preseason Ranked singles players and two doubles teams. Both Lea Ma and Meg Kowalski enter the new season ranked top-20 in the nation in singles.
Wildcat Wild Facts
Kansas State compiled a 7-12 overall dual record and 2-7 Big 12 conference record last season. The Wildcats' top singles player, Karine-Marion Job, earned seven victories at No. 1 singles last season and received the No. 114 preseason ranking. Kansas State comes to Oxford with experience as 75 percent of the team (six of eight) are seniors. Head Coach Jordan Smith has a career record of 28-27 in three previous seasons at the Wildcats' wheel.
