Rebels to Compete Against Army and John Jay College
WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 5 Ole Miss rifle looks to bounce back on its final road trip of the regular season to take on Army and John Jay College in a pair of matches January 29 and 30.
The Rebels are looking to bounce back in the win column after dropping two close matches to No.1 Alaska Fairbanks earlier this month. Ole Miss boasts a strong 6-3 record (5-1 GARC) and sits comfortably in the NCAA Team Selection Standings with a 4721.33 three-score average.
Individually Lea Horvath leads the Rebels. The sophomore ranks fourth nationally with an aggregate average of 1186.4 and has posted a career-high score of 1190 three times this season. Junior sharpshooters Claire O'Neel and Kristen Derting give Ole Miss extra firepower. The duo ranks just outside the top-10 individually in smallbore and air rifle.
Jillian Zakrzeski, a New York native, will get an opportunity to shoot in her home state. She and fellow senior Abby Buesseler have been big contributors this season, counting in all nine matches. Also counting in air rifle, Martina Gratz has shot extremely well, eclipsing the 590 mark in each of the last seven matches.
Ole Miss takes on Army on Saturday and John Jay on Sunday. The first smallbore relay is set to begin at 8 a.m. CT on both days. Fans can follow along on social media for live updates throughout the match.
