Rifle Fires Program Record In Victory

Rebels Post 4737 Team Score
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior Jillian Zakrzeski's career day on the range helped propel No. 5 Ole Miss rifle to a program-record team score and 4737-4676 victory over Army Saturday morning.
Zakrzeski tied her career-high smallbore mark and fired a personal best in air rifle to pace the field with an aggregate score of 1188. She was one of four Rebels to top the 1180 mark in the match, with Lea Horvath (1185), Kristen Derting (1183) and Abby Buesseler (1181) achieving the feat.
Ole Miss was firing on all cylinders early in the match, turning in its top smallbore team score of the season with a 2356. Buesseler and Zakrzeski led the way, each posting a perfect prone score en route to scores of 590. For Buesseler, it marked a career-high and made her the fifth Rebel in program history to top the 590 mark. Derting and Horvath also performed well in the smallbore discipline, finishing with identical scores of 588. Freshman M'Leah Lambdin rounded out the counters with a 583 and has now fired a career-high in each of her last three matches.
In air rifle, Zakrzeski once again led the Rebels with a blistering 598 that featured four perfect rounds of 10 shots. Horvath followed one point behind with a 597, while Derting notched a season-high 595. Buesseler finished with a 591 to cap off a 2381 team score to break the record and clinch the victory.
Army posted a team score of 4676 (2322 in smallbore and 2354 in air rifle). The Black Knights were led by Anusha Pakkam with an 1172 aggregate.
The Rebels are back in action Sunday morning, taking on John Jay College at 8 a.m. CT in a neutral site match.
