Rebels Welcome Army to Oxford
OXFORD, Miss. – Rolling into the weekend as the nation's number two team, Ole Miss rifle resumes GARC action, hosting Army in its 2022 home opener at the Patricia C. Lamar Readiness Center Saturday, October 22.
Ole Miss is coming off a strong weekend in Murray, Kentucky. The Rebels picked up a pair of wins, surpassing the 4700 threshold in both matches. Last Sunday, they combined to shoot the fifth-best score in program history in a dominant 4728-4624 win.
The freshmen, Julianna Hays and Emma Pereira, have stepped up big for Ole Miss over the first three matches. Hays has provided the team with very solid smallbore performances in each match, and Pereira is coming off a career-high 1183 aggregate score.
Last year's GARC Shooter of the Year, Lea Horvath, leads the team this season with the 12th best average in the nation at an 1182.7. She is coming off a season-best aggregate score of 1187 and looks to carry that momentum into the coming fall matches. She is joined by senior counters Kristen Derting and Claire O'Neel. Derting has looked sharp this season, tying her career-high aggregate score the last time out.
Katelyn Tinsley also had an impressive weekend her last time out. The sophomore fired a career-high air rifle and aggregate score.
Army is shooting its first match of the season.
The Rebels are set to begin the first smallbore relay at 8 a.m. Fans in attendance are welcome to tailgate outside the Range. Ole Miss will provide yard games and food for those in attendance.
