Hole-In-One Highlights Ole Miss Men’s Golf First Day at the Blessings Collegiate

Vongchaisit Sits in Top-10, Townsend Makes Hole-In-One
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss men's golf finished round one of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in 7th place heading into round two.
The Rebels experienced a multitude of highs all the while battling through the challenges of the Blessings Golf Course through day one. Overall, Ole Miss secured 57 pars and 10 birdies to wrap up with a round score of 297 (+9).
Overall with both men's and women's programs scores combined, Ole Miss is tied for 3rd among the field at 11-over.
"We really didn't have our best stuff today but these guys really battled all day long," said head coach Chris Malloy. "This place really wears on you and doesn't ever let up. I am very confident that our best golf is ahead of us the next two days."
The Rebels were led by senior Sarut Vongchaisit as he started the day off with a birdie on the first hole of the day. Vongchaisit played even golf through the next 9 holes, and at the turn secured a pair of back-to-back birdies to put him at 1-under. Vonchaisit heads into round two tied for 7th place.
Jack Gnam went par on eight of his first nine holes of the day. At the turn, Gnam battled back from a pair of bogeys with a birdie on Hole 5 to put him at 3-over overall (T26).
Tom Fischer sits with his senior teammate tied for 26th at 3-over. Fischer made two consecutive birdies in the back nine to start his day off strong but struggled in the front nine at the turn to keep his momentum.
The day was highlighted by Hugo Townsend who made a hole-in-one on the par-3 Hole 13. Townsend, a grad student transfer, obtained two additional birdies throughout play to finish him off at tied for 34th (+4).
Rounding out for the Rebels, Cameron Tankersley additionally looks to round two after his tied for 34th place performance (+4).
Ole Miss tees off at 9:30 am CT on Tuesday to compete in the second round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
