Women’s Golf Ends Rainy Lamkin Invitational Tied for Eighth

Lignell, Tamburlini Earn Top 20 Finishes for Fourth Straight Tournament
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The Ole Miss women's golf team capped off their week at the Lamkin Invitational Tuesday tying for eighth place overall after logging a three-day team score of 293-300-308–901 (+37).
Battling rainy conditions over the tournament's final round of play, the Rebels finished the three-round, two-day affair with a total of 35 birdies over the course of the tournament, six of which came on Tuesday.
Finishing at the top for the Rebels was junior Andrea Lignell, whose team-best final round of 75 (+3) helped guide her up the leaderboard to a 12th place finish. Lignell's tournament would end with her logging 10 total birdies, the most for Ole Miss on the week.
Fellow junior Chiara Tamburlini also ended her tournament with a top 20 finish, finishing tied for 16th at the tournament's end. Tamburlini's success on the week would be attributed to her par-5 scoring (-3), which was tied for second-lowest in the field.
This marks the fourth consecutive tournament in which Lignell and Tamburlini have finished in the top 20 together. The streak began at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in October, where Tamburlini and Lignell would finish 13th and 14th, respectively.
McKinley Cunningham, Julia Johnson and Natacha Host Husted rounded out play for the Rebels in California, with Cunningham leading the trio with a three-day score of 230 (+14). Cunningham's tournament would end with her shooting an Ole Miss-leading one-under on par 3s.
Johnson would finish her tournament with a 78 (+6) on day three to secure a tie for 49th, while Host Husted's tournament would end with her sitting tied for 60th.
Claiming the team title at the 2022 Lamkin Invitational was San Jose State, who shot an 873 (+9) on the week.
The Rebels will now travel to Humble, Texas to take part in the Icon Invitational hosted by the University of Houston. The tournament is set to run Feb. 21-22.
