Women’s Golf Readies for ICON Invitational in Texas

Tournament to be Played Feb. 21-22 at the Golf Club of Houston
HUMBLE, Texas – The Ole Miss women's golf team will travel south this week to take part in the annual ICON Invitational, running Feb. 21-22, at the Golf Club of Houston.

| THE COURSE |
Playing at 6,247 total yards as a par 72, the Golf Club of Houston was founded in 2003, with the Tournament Course being designed by Rees Jones Davis Toms. Originally designed to play host to the PGA TOUR's annual Houston Open, the Tournament Course offers many great vantage points and views for spectators. The Houston Open has been staged at the club from 2003 to 2019, where past champions include Fred Couples, Vijay Singh, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson.

Entering the ICON Invitational, Ole Miss currently slots into the No. 17 spot in the nation in the Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Team Rankings, while also being ranked No. 23 in Golfstat's NCAA Top 25 Rankings. Individually, three Rebels hold top 100 rankings in the nation prior to any rounds taking place in Humble, with Chiara Tamburlini leading the way with No. 55 and No. 59 rankings in the Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfstat individual ranking systems. Just behind Tamburlini in the Golfstat rankings is Julia Johnson, who holds the No. 70 position overall, while Andrea Lignell currently ranks at No. 85 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings to round things out for Ole Miss.
| LIGNELL NAMED SEC CO-GOLFER OF THE WEEK |
Following a week where Andrea Lignell earned a 12th place finish at the Lamkin Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, California, closing her tournament with a season-low three-round score of 222 (+6), the Gothenburg, Sweden, native came away with Co-SEC Golfer of the Week honors. This marked the fourth tournament in a row in which Lignell had earned a top 20 finish for the Rebels, finishing higher than 13 golfers that were ranked in the Golfstat Top 100 NCAA Individual Rankings, five of whom were in Golfstat's Top 25.
| TAMBURLINI, LIGNELL LEAD THE WAY |
For the fourth consecutive tournament, both Andrea Lignell and Chiara Tamburlini finished inside of the top 20 for the Rebels, with the duo recording 12th and 16th place finishes at the team's most recent appearance in the Lamkin Invitational. Both Rebels continue to pace the squad in some fashion, as Lignell has now been the highest Rebel finisher for the third time this season, while Tamburlini is the only Rebel to have a top 20 finish rate of 100 percent on the 2021-22 season so far.
