Tamburlini Leads Women’s Golf on Day One of ICON Invitational

Rebels Tied for 10th as Team; Tamburlini Sits Sixth Individually
HUMBLE, Texas – The Ole Miss women's golf wrapped up day one of the ICON Invitational, in Humble, Texas, by logging a two-round score of 587 (+11), putting the Rebels in a tie for 10th heading into Tuesday's final round of play.
The Rebels would end the day sinking a total of 27 birdies as a team, as well as logging a team score of six-under on par 5s. Ole Miss would also conclude day one fourth in the field in par-3 scoring (+4).
Pacing the Rebels through the opening two rounds was Chiara Tamburlini, who saw back-to-back rounds of 70 (-2) over day one's 36 holes of play. Tamburlini currently leads the field in both par-3 (-3) and par-5 (-5) scoring, logging a team-high total of eight birdies on the day to sit in sole possession of sixth heading into Tuesday.
Junior Andrea Lignell's opening day in Humble would end with her sitting tied for 38th overall following a 148 (+4) 36-hole score. Lignell would find her most success on the course front nine, netting one-over on those holes over both of her rounds.
Right alongside Lignell on the leaderboard sits McKinley Cunningham, whose seven birdies on the opening day of play helped her secure a share of 38th place heading into Tuesday. After rounds of 73 (+1) and 75 (+3) that were fueled by Cunningham shooting even on par 3s, the redshirt-freshman will now look to build a late push up the leaderboard on the final day of competition.
Rounding out play for the Rebels were the duo of Julia Johnson and Natacha Host Husted, who are tied for 58th after each shooting 152 (+8) over the tournament's first two rounds.
Leading the way on the team leaderboard after day one is USC, who logged a team score of 551 (-25) over two rounds to sit first overall.
The final round of the ICON Invitational will begin with a shotgun start Tuesday, at 8 a.m. CT, at the Golf Club of Houston.
