No. 15 Men’s Tennis Improves to 7-0 with Two Sweeps over Alcorn

Rebels Start Season 7-0 for First Time Since 2007
OXFORD, Miss. – No. 15 Ole Miss men's tennis (7-0, 0-0 SEC) earned two dominant victories versus Alcorn State (0-5, 0-0 SWAC) at home on Wednesday.
Ole Miss earned two swift victories versus the Braves inside of the William F. Galtney Tennis Center on Wednesday. The match, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed to Wednesday due to unforeseen circumstances. The Rebels extended their unbeaten streak to seven, defeating the Braves 7-0 in the first match and 4-0 in the second. The Rebels have made Galtney a fortress, having played all matches thus far this season at home. The Rebels begin the season with an undefeated 7-0 record for the first time since 2007. Ole Miss started the 2007 spring season 8-0.
The Rebels started match one by claiming the opening doubles point, 2-1. Simon Junk and Nikola Slavic earned the first victory of the day, winning 6-1 at No. 2 Doubles. Finn Reynolds and Lukas Engelhardt clinched the opening point with a 6-2 victory on Court No. 1. Jakob Cadonau and John Hallquist Lithén fell on Court 3 in the only lost match of the day for the Rebels.
Ole Miss swept singles versus the Braves, 6-0, while only allowing a maximum of three games in an individual set to their opponents. Walker Stearns earned his first dual win of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory versus the Braves' Isaac Santitto. Ole Miss took the first match 7-0.
The Rebels and Braves decided to play to clinch in the second match and to only play the singles portion of the match. The Rebels earned four one-sided victories to sweep the Braves twice. No. 44 Reynolds' match was the first to conclude as Alcorn's David Pata pulled-out due to injury. Jakob Cadonau won next, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win on his birthday at No. 5 Singles. Lithén and Engelhardt both earned singles victories in match two and match one. Engelhardt and Reynolds both earned four total victories on the day (two in singles and two in doubles).
Up Next: The Rebels face No. 4 TCU on the road at noon CT on Sunday. The Horned Frogs have a 5-1 record this season including a win versus 2021 NCAA Team Champion Florida.
