Rebels Sweep all Three Matches Over Weekend
OXFORD, Miss. – No. 34 Ole Miss Women's Tennis (6-2, 0-0 SEC) swept the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (2-5, 0-0 SUN BELT) inside the William F. Galtney Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Ole Miss women's tennis earned its sixth win of the season on Sunday, defeating the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 7-0. The Rebels improved to 5-0 at home in 2022 and earned thee match victories over the weekend without dropping a single set.
The Rebels clinched the opening doubles point early, taking No. 3 Doubles 6-1 and No. 1 Doubles 6-2. Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher and Kelsey Mize led 5-0 over Hala Badwy and Oleksandra Balaba of Lousiana-Monroe on Court No. 2. The Warhawks fended off multiple match points to bring the match back to 5-4. The Rebels then held on to win, 6-4, and sweep the doubles point.
Ole Miss carried the momentum from singles directly into doubles. No. 105 Sabina Machalova made quick work of Badwy at No. 1 singles, defeating the Warhawk's top player 6-0, 6-1, and finishing while other matches were still in the first set. Her doubles partner, Rachel Krzyzak, won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 Singles to extend the Ole Miss lead to 3-0. Reka Zadori then clinched the match win for Ole Miss by defeating Jimena Paula Garbino, 6-3, 6-0. Zadori improved to 6-0 in dual singles matches this season with the win.
The Rebels and Warhawks played out the remaining three matches in full. Leclercq-Ficher, Ludmila Kareisová and Lillian Gabrielsen all won in straight-sets to seal a full 7-0 sweep for Ole Miss. The match spanned 2:10.
