OXFORD, Miss. –
No. 20 Ole Miss men's tennis (10-4, 0-1 SEC) prepares for its first SEC road matches of the season, playing at Alabama (4-9, 0-1 SEC) on Friday at 4 p.m. CT and at No. 50 LSU (7-4, 0-2 SEC) at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday.

Ole Miss returns to the court after suffering a 6-1 home defeat to No. 2 Tennessee last Sunday. The Rebels face two unranked opponents this weekend after facing four consecutive teams ranked in the ITA top-12 nationally.

Road Rebels

Ole Miss is set to compete on the road for the second time this season and first time in SEC competition, carrying an 0-1 record from a narrow 4-3 loss at No. 4 TCU on Feb. 6.

The Rebels shined bright away from Oxford in 2021, earning a 6-2 road record including a 4-2 away record in SEC dual play.

Updated ITA's

The Rebels' top doubles duo of Lukas Engelhardt and Finn Reynolds are inching towards the top position after climbing from No. 6 to No. 2 in the national rankings. Reynolds ranked No. 1 in the country in doubles for the entirety of the 2021 regular and postseason.

Ole Miss placed two players in the singles rankings, Nikola Slavic at No. 21 and Jan Soren Hain at No. 104. The Rebels received the No. 20 national team ranking

One-Up on the Crimson Tide

Ole Miss defeated Alabama 4-3 at home in a non-conference matchup on Jan. 22. Engelhardt clinched the match victory for the Rebels at 4-2. The match was played indoors (Friday's match to be played outdoors, weather permitting).

Alabama has had a slow start to the season, winning four of 13 total matches. The Crimson Tide have lost five of their last six, having last fallen to No. 9 Kentucky last Friday via the sweep. The Crimson Tide are 0-5 versus ranked opponents this season. LSU faces Mississippi State on Friday prior to hosting Ole Miss on Sunday.

The Crimson Tide's top doubles team of Fillip Planinsek and German Samofavlov rank No. 28 in doubles.

Looking at LSU

The Tigers have won seven of their first 11 matches in 2022. LSU heads to Oxford after suffering two in-conference defeats last weekend to No. 25 Auburn and No. 6 South Carolina.

LSU received the No. 50 team ranking in the latest ITA poll released on Wednesday. No. 1 Singles player Ronnie Hohmann also ranks No. 50 in the nation in singles.
