LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ole Miss men's golf team wrapped up a long day of play at the Louisiana Classics with a two-round score of 571 (-5) to settle into sixth place heading into Tuesday's final round from Oakbourne Country Club.

The Rebels would end the day notching 38 total birdies as a team, ranking second in the Louisiana Classics field. Ole Miss would also see a pair of second round eagles from Kye Meeks and Brett Schell.

"We left a lot of shots out there today unfortunately," said head coach Chris Malloy. "This group has done a good job of eliminating silly mistakes this year. Unfortunately, we didn't do that today and it really cost us every time we started to get momentum going. We need to learn from it and be ready to finish strong tomorrow."

Ending day one in the top 10 individually for the Rebels was Evan Brown, with Brown logging rounds of 67 (-5) and 72 (E) to sit five-under heading into Tuesday's final round. Now tied for seventh at five-under, Brown would finish par or better in both par-3 (E) and par-4 (-4) scoring on the day, with his par-4 scoring ranking third in the field.

Brown's opening round of 67 marked a new season-low for the grad transfer, with Brown sinking five birdies in round one. His opening round would have the Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, native finish par or better on all 18 holes, not notching a bogey until his 20th hole of the day.

Putting on a birdie clinic for the Rebels was senior Sarut Vongchaisit, as the senior battled back from shooting six-over on hole 9 during his second round to finish with a 144 (E) over two rounds to sit tied for 25th. Vongchaisit blazed home 12 birdies on the day, with eight coming in his second round, to rank second amongst all golfers in total birdies.

Also battling back in his second round on the day was Jack Gnam, with Gnam bouncing back from a 74 (+2) to start his tournament with a 70 (-2) in round two to sit tied with Vongchaisit at 25th. Gnam would finish with nine total birdies, seeing a majority of his success come in par-5 scoring (-2) along the way.

Meeks and Schell would round out the Rebel lineup in Louisiana, with Meeks two-over in a tie for 37th, while Schell would end his day seven-over and tied for 75th. Both Meeks and Schell would log to two Rebel eagles on the day, with Meeks getting his on Hole 6 while Schell's would come on Hole 13.

Leading the way on the team leaderboard heading into the final day of competition is Texas A&M, as the Aggies would finish day one with a two-round team score of 542 (-34).

The Rebels' final round from Louisiana is set to begin with a fixed start from Hole 1 beginning at 8:15 a.m. CT at Oakbourne Country Club. ESPN+ will provide coverage for Tuesday's final round, with coverage beginning at 9:15 a.m. CT.
