Lignell Earns Third Career Top 5 Finish with Season-Best 212 (+2) Scorecard

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Ole Miss women's golf team closed out their time at the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Florida with a team score of 864 (+24), finishing sixth overall on the team leaderboard.

The Rebels capped off their tournament by carding a score of 294 (+14) on Sunday's final day of competition, as the team would finish the tournament 30 total birdies over the two-day event, ranking fifth in the field in that category.

Andrea Lignell would end her tournament at the top of the leaderboard for the Rebels, finishing tied for fourth with a three-day score of 212 (+2) on the weekend. Lignell would end the tournament leading the Rebels in both par-4 (-1) and par-5 (-2) scoring on the week, logging seven total birdies in Florida.

This marks the third top 5 finish of Lignell's career, all of which have now come in the 2021-22 season. Lignell's three-round score of 212 also marks a season-high for the junior, beating out her previous mark of 216 set at the ICON Invitational earlier this spring.

Also snagging a top 20 finish for the Rebels was Chiara Tamburlini, as her round of 72 (+2) on Sunday settled her into a tie for 12th to cap off her time at the Gators Invite. Logging a team-high nine birdies on the weekend, Tamburlini now continues her top 20 finish streak with the Rebels, making the top 20 in all seven of her tournament appearances on the 2021-22 season.

Freshman Natacha Host Husted would end her time in Gainesville with a new career-low 54-hole total on the weekend, carding a 218 (+8) to finish tied for 26th overall. Host Husted's second round score of 67 (-3) from Saturday also marked a career-low for the Copenhagen, Denmark, native, beating out her previous 18-hole career-best total of 73 from the ICON Invitational and the Jackson T Stephens Cup.

Capping off the Rebels' rotation for the Gators Invitational were senior Julia Johnson and freshman Maddie May. Johnson's tournament would end with her logging a 75 (+5), giving her a three-day total of 221 (+11) to finish tied for 38th. May's tournament would end with her finishing tied for 69th with a three-day total of 235 (+25), which both mark new career-bests for the newest addition to the Rebels.

The Rebels will now turn right back around and travel to Augusta, Georgia for the Valspar Augusta Invitational. The two-day tournament will run March 12-13 at the Forest Hills Golf Course.
