OXFORD, Miss. – No. 46 Ole Miss women's tennis (13-10, 5-8 SEC) faces No. 31 Vanderbilt (15-8, 6-7 SEC) at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday in the second round of the SEC Tennis Championships. The conference tournament this year is hosted by Florida.
 
Ole Miss, the No. 9 seed in the SEC Championships, faces No. 8 seed Vanderbilt in the second round on Thursday at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.

Rebel Rebound
 
The Rebels faced the Commodores on the road last Sunday, April 21. Ole Miss fell 4-1 despite singles and doubles victories by captain Sabina Machalova. Vanderbilt won doubles, 2-1, and won three singles matches in straight sets.
 
SEC Season
 
The Rebels compiled a 5-8 overall record in conference play this season. Ole Miss earned victories versus three ranked conference opponents, No. 31 Alabama (March 18), No. 61 Mississippi State (April 3) and No. 58 Kentucky (April 15).
 
Ole Miss defeated Vanderbilt 4-0 at home in 2021. The Rebels reached the second round of the NCAA Team Championships last season.
 
Rankings
 
The Rebels improved one spot in the ITA Team Rankings to No. 46 this week to begin the 2022 postseason.
 
Sabina Machalova re-entered the ITA top-50 at No. 48 in singles. Machalova also ranks No. 80 in doubles when paired with Rachel Krzyzak and No. 84 when playing with Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher. Leclercq-Ficher received her first career doubles ranking and has ranked in both singles and doubles during her freshman season.
 
When one Dore closes…another Dore opens
 
Vanderbilt concluded the 2022 regular season with wins in four out of the final five matches. The Commodores also won five out of their last seven SEC matches. Vanderbilt is 2-1 in neutral site matchups this season.
 
Three Vanderbilt players rank in the ITA Singles Rankings. The Commodores are led by No. 41 Anna Ross, No. 86 Anessa Lee and No. 91 Holly Staff. Ross and Staff rank No. 40 when paired together in doubles.
