Suber Posts Third-Lowest Individual Score in Program History of 202 (-11) to Earn Second Medalist Finish of 2021-22 Season

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Ole Miss men's golf senior Jackson Suber blazed his way through the competition at the 2022 Irish Creek Intercollegiate, earning the fourth individual victory of his Rebel career on the final day from The Club at Irish Creek.

The Rebels came up short of winning their second team title of the season, falling just one stroke short of Charlotte with a three-day team score of 829 (-23) to claim second place overall. The team tallied a tournament-high 61 total birdies over the weekend, while also finishing ranked second in both par-4 (-1) and par-5 (-24) scoring.

"It was great to see Suber come out and compete from the opening hole today. He had a lot of confidence heading into this week and it was awesome to watch," said head coach Chris Malloy. "As a team, we aren't doing enough of the little things right. Just like last week, we had way too many three-putts this week to be successful. The good news is that it's not anything complicated to fix other than tightening up some short game issues. We will be ready to compete next week at Mississippi State."

Suber's astounding weekend in Kannapolis included bookend rounds of 66 (-5) in both the first and third rounds of action, as Suber finished his weekend off by earning a new season-low round of 202 (-11) to claim his second individual title of the season and fourth of his Ole Miss career. Suber's three-round total of 202 stands as the third-lowest individual score in program history, with Suber himself holding the record-low of 198 from his 2020 Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate victory.

Also finishing in the top 20 for Ole Miss was the duo of Sarut Vongchaisit and Brett Schell, with both ending their tournaments tied for 15th with three-day totals amounting to 210 (-3). This marks both of their fourth top 20 finishes of the season, and also stands as the fourth-consecutive top 20 finish for Vongchaisit, who ended his tournament with a team-high 39 pars.

Despite an opening round of 68 (-3) at Irish Creek Saturday morning, Evan Brown's tournament ended with the graduate transfer earning a tie for 31st with a three-round scorecard of 214 (+1). Brown tallied a total of 12 birdies on the weekend, while also finishing five-under on par-5s.

Jack Gnam's tournament ended with the senior posting his best round of the weekend on Sunday, as Gnam's four-birdie round of 69 (-2) helped push him up the final leaderboard to earn a share of 42nd individually. Gnam matched his season-low three-round total in North Carolina, with Gnam finishing with a score of 215 (+2).

The Rebels will now return to Mississippi to close out their regular season at the Mossy Oak Invitational at Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, with the tournament set to run April 11-12.
