Sets Up Rubber Match on Monday
OXFORD, Miss. – No. 12 Tennessee evened the series with Ole Miss, defeating the Rebels 10-1 in five innings Sunday night at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
Ole Miss (35-15, 9-11 SEC) didn't have an answer as the Lady Vols (35-14, 12-7 SEC) tallied 11 hits, including 4 home runs.
The Tennessee offense came out hot, using a leadoff double and a pair of infield singles to take an early 2-0 lead. They extended the lead again with four runs in the third as all nine batters came to the plate.
Abbey Latham doubled on a ball that ricochet off the shortstop and came around to score the Rebels' only run on an RBI groundout.
Tennessee tacked on one more in the fifth and three in the sixth to close the door and bring the run rule into effect.
Ole Miss and Tennessee will decide the series Monday night at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
