Rebels Back in Action February 25-26
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – Ole Miss couldn't come away with a timely hit, stranding 11 base runners in the 1-2 loss to Kansas Saturday night at Nancy Almaraz Field.
Aynslie Furbush held the Jayhawks to a pair of runs, coming on a two-run home run in the top of the second inning. She was stellar the rest of the night, holding Kansas to just five hits and stranding eight runners.
Offensively, Ole Miss left the bases loaded in the first and sixth innings but couldn't capitalize on the opportunities. The Rebels made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning after Savana Sikes tallied her third hit of the evening. She took second on a wild pitch and advanced to third following an infield single from Furbush. With the go-ahead run at the plate, Sikes scored on another wild pitch, pulling the Rebels within one; however, they were unable to scratch another run across.
Ole Miss is back in action February 25-26 at the Cowgirl Classic hosted by McNeese State.
