Softball Wraps Up Ole Miss Classic

Rebels Look Forward to Conference Play
OXFORD, Miss. – The Rebels dropped both games to SEMO and Mount St. Mary's on Sunday to wrap up play at the Ole Miss Classic.
GAME ONE: OLE MISS 0, SEMO 1
Makenna Kliethermes went six strong innings, only surrendering a first-inning run, but the offense came up empty against SEMO, failing to score any runs in the 1-0 shutout.
After the Redhawks singled to open the game, Ole Miss quickly got two outs, but a two-out walk extended the inning and moved a runner into scoring position. The very next SEMO batter hit one right back up the middle to drive in the game's only run.
The Rebels had a chance to even the score in the bottom of the fourth after Natalie Ray and Keila Kamoku singled with two outs and advanced on a wild pitch, but Ole Miss came up empty after a flyout in foul territory ended the inning. The Rebs were stifled the rest of the way, unable to get anything going offensively.
GAME TWO: OLE MISS 1, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 4
Unfortunately, the offensive blues continued for Ole Miss in game two of the day as the Rebels fell to Mount St. Mary's 3-1 in the final game of the Ole Miss Classic.
The Mountaineers tagged Aynslie Furbush for three unearned runs in the top of the second. The Rebs did manage to get one back in the bottom half of the innings on an RBI single from Lexie Brady but were never able to retake control of the game, leaving six runners on base.
Ole Miss is back in action March 10-12 when the Rebels open SEC play at No. 7 Tennessee in Knoxville.
