Softball Drops Series At No. 14 Florida

Rebels Back in Action May 5-6
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ole Miss softball was unable to slow down the Gators Sunday afternoon at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium, falling 12-2 in five innings.
The Rebels (28-23, 7-14 SEC) fell behind early and were never able to recover, as Florida (34-16, 10-11 SEC) recorded 13 hits and only allowed one.
Ole Miss plated two runs in the opening frame as Tate Whitley scored on a sacrifice fly and Savana Sikes added another run on a wild pitch, but the offense fell silent the remainder of the game.
Florida responded in the bottom half of the first, rallying for five runs. The Gators loaded the bases and took advantage of four walks to help push runs across. Ole Miss turned to Grace Sparks out of the bullpen to help record the final two outs of the inning.
The Gators broke things open in the third, batting around the order. They added six runs to their lead on six hits and an error. Florida tacked on one more in the fourth to make it a 12-2 contest and retired the Rebels in the fifth to win the game and take the series.
Ole Miss travels back to Oxford, where it will close out the Regular season by hosting No. 16 Alabama for senior weekend May 5-7.
