Rebels and Tigers Play to Scoreless Draw In Oxford
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss soccer (5-3-2, 1-1-1 SEC) picked up a point in league play Sunday afternoon, playing to a scoreless draw against Auburn (5-3-3, 1-1-1 SEC) in Oxford. The draw improved the Rebels' home record to 4-0-2 with just three matches left to play on their home turf.
Shu Ohba made five saves on route to her second shutout in her first three games in the SEC. Aubrey Mister and Gili Johnson each came away with two shots in the match.
Ole Miss possessed the ball well in the first half, taking six shots and placing two on goal. Their best chance came in the 15th minute when it seemed as if Grace Freeman had scored her first career goal but was ruled offsides and the goal was called back. Freeman would get off another shot a few minutes later but Maddie Prohaska would make the save and keep Ole Miss off the board.
In the second half, the Rebels were held to just one shot but the defense was able to step up and pick up their fifth shutout of the season. Ohba made three of her five saves in the final half of play.
The Rebels will travel to College Station next week for a showdown with Texas A&M.
