OXFORD, Miss. –  It will be a Top 10 matchup in Baton Rouge this weekend as No. 8 Ole Miss football takes on No. 10 LSU in what could prove to be one of the most important games on the Southeastern Conference schedule this season.
 
Lane Kiffin and the Rebels have shown their mettle on the road so far this year, outscoring Wake Forest and South Carolina 67-9 in two victories away from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium—but challenging a top-10 LSU squad in Tiger Stadium at night will be a different challenge entirely. 2023 LSU Tigers Recap
LSU finished 10-3 last season, its only losses coming to New Year's Six or College Football Playoff teams: Florida State, Ole Miss and Alabama. Rebel fans will remember the wild one at The Vaught, a 55-49 victory for the home team. LSU responded with three straight wins, including one at Missouri, before falling 42-28 at Alabama. The Tigers won their final four games of the season, hitting the 10-win mark with a 35-31 victory over Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
 
2024 LSU Snapshot
LSU had a tough test to open the season against USC. The Tigers led in the fourth quarter but let it slip away in a 27-20 defeat to the No. 23 Trojans. LSU bounced back with a home win over Nicholls, followed by a wild 36-33 win at South Carolina. The following week, the Tigers exacted revenge on Los Angeles with a 34-17 win over UCLA before topping South Alabama 42-10. The Tigers enter this week off a bye.
 
Three Players to Watch: Ole Miss
  1. Walter NolenWalter Nolen seems to improve with each game he wears an Ole Miss uniform. The star Rebel defensive tackle recovered a fumble last week, in addition to three TFLs and two sacks. Nolen's first career sack came against LSU in 2022.
  2. Trey Amos – The New Iberia, Louisiana, native Trey Amos is coming off a fantastic game, logging eight tackles and a spectacular diving interception at South Carolina.
  3. Jaxson Dart – After back-to-back weeks against elite SEC defenses, Jaxson Dart still leads the conference and ranks third nationally in passing. Now, he'll face an LSU pass defense that ranks 93rd nationally and last in the league, allowing 236.4 yards per game through the air. 
Three Players to Watch: LSU
  1. Garrett Nussmeier – The LSU quarterback is No. 2 in the SEC in passing behind Dart with 330.4 passing yards per game. He'll challenge a Rebel secondary that ranks allows 203.8 yards per game through the air.
  2. Kyren Lacy – LSU has several weapons in the passing game, including Kyren Lacy, who is tied with Tre Harris for third in the SEC with five touchdowns this season.
  3. Bradyn Swinson – LSU has a talented pass-rushing duo in Bradyn Swinson and Sai'vion Jones. Swinson has led the way with 5.0 sacks (3rd in SEC) and 6.0 tackles for loss (11th in SEC).
