Jaxson Dart Becomes Ole Miss’ Career Leader in Total Offense on Record-Setting Day at Arkansas

11/2/2024 | Football

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jaxson Dart launched an all-out assault on the Ole Miss football record books in Saturday's 63-31 win at Arkansas, including becoming the school's all-time leader in total offense.

Dart also set the single-game passing record with 515 yards, going 25-for-31 through the air to break Matt Corral's single-game mark of 513 set in 2020 against South Carolina. He added a team-high 47 rushing yards for 562 total yards to break Archie Manning's single-game record of 540, which has stood since the 1969 meeting with Alabama.

In the effort, he passed Bo Wallace (10,478) to No. 1 in school history, closing the game with 10,805 yards of total offense for his career. Last week, Dart passed Eli Manning (9,984) for second in the record book. Dart also broke 12,000 total yards for his career, including his time at USC, and is just one of four active QBs to hit 12K.

With the win, Dart also became the winningest starting quarterback in the modern era for Ole Miss, notching his 25th victory as a starter to pass Eli Manning and Wallace, each with 24, for the most wins since Archie Manning's first start in 1968.

Dart's day also made him the school's all-time leader in 300-yard passing games, now with 13, breaking a tie at 12 with Jordan Ta'amu and Chad Kelly. This also marked his third career 400-yard game with the Rebels, the second-most all-time behind Ta'amu's four. Dart's was the 13th game in SEC history with a 500-yard passing performance by a single QB, and per ESPN, Dart is only the second in SEC history with 500 yards and six TDs passing alongside Missouri's Drew Lock.

As a team, Ole Miss tied its single-game passing touchdown record with seven: six by Dart and one by Austin Simmons. Five of those touchdowns were caught by Watkins, a school record. Click here for more on the receiver's record day.

63 points scored are tied for the most ever by an Ole Miss offense against an SEC opponent alongside a 63-28 win over Vanderbilt in 1979. Ole Miss' 694 yards of total offense rank seventh in program history and are the fourth-most ever against an SEC opponent, the most since notching 706 vs. LSU in 2023.

Ole Miss' 562 passing yards shattered the previous single-game record of 529 set earlier this season against Furman. Head coach Lane Kiffin now owns four of the five 500-yard passing efforts in Ole Miss history, two of which have come against SEC opponents.

Those 562 passing yards rank fourth in SEC history overall, the most since Mississippi State set the record with 623 against LSU in 2020.
