Women’s Tennis Grabs Road Victory Over Tulane

NEW ORLEANS – Ole Miss women's tennis extends their win streak to three matches with a 5-2 victory at Tulane. Kelsey Mize accomplished her 50th career doubles win, helping the Rebels get off to a great start.
Ole Miss (5-2) began the match hot, taking the first three points away from Tulane (6-4), starting by grabbing the doubles points. Ava Hrastar and Brianna Crowley were the first pairing to finish, defeating their opponents 6-4. The Rebels would quickly secure the lead by Kelsey Mize and Andrea Nova, winning 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Not only did Mize earn her 50 career doubles victory, but the senior also moved to the program's top 30 in doubles wins.
The doubles duo of Hrastar and Crowley rode their success together to individual success in singles. Crowley continues to dominate at the No. 3 position, improving her non-conference dual singles record to 6-1 by taking down Kristen Borland in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Hrastar followed suit with a straight-set victory of her own. The redshirt junior got ahead early and didn't let up to a 6-4 opening set triumph, then blew her opponent away with a 6-0 second set win.
Rachel Krzyzak sealed the overall Rebel victory with her baker's dozen win on the season. Krzyzak outdueled Cora Barber in a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 match.
Andrea Nova put the cherry on top of a great afternoon by earning her 10th overall singles win of her career in a third-set super tiebreak. The freshman battled but fell short in a first-set tiebreak but would rattle off a hard-fought 7-5 second-set score to force a third set. While the first two sets were tough, Nova made quick work in a 10-2 super tiebreaker.
The 41st-ranked Rebels head back to Oxford to host rival Mississippi State, starting conference play on March 2 at 1 p.m. CT.
