Women’s Tennis Falls in First Home Loss

OXFORD, Miss. – Ending their three-match home stand, Ole Miss dropped their match against No. 13 Texas A&M, 6-1. Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher finished off a great weekend with another doubles and singles win.
Texas A&M (12-5, 4-0 SEC) jumped on Ole Miss (8-3, 2-1 SEC) quickly however Leclercq-Ficher and Ludmila Kareisova evened doubles action. The duo extended their win streak to three matches, taking down Jeanette Mireles and Lucciana Perez, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles.
On court one, Briana Crowley and Ava Hrastar, down 5-2, won two games to be within one point. Unfortunately, the No. 6 doubles in the nation would prevail.
Two Rebels won their opening sets in singles, and one other forced a third set. The Aggies took five straight singles matches and won the game against the Rebels. Leclercq-Ficher saved Ole Miss from a sweep by notching a point in a third-set thriller on court four. The junior fell behind early, 5-2, but won five consecutive games for the 7-5 first set triumph. She would fall in the second set but turned it around in a 6-4 third set.
The French native went 4-0 at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles against No. 34 LSU and No. 13 Texas A&M. Leclercq-Ficher is 3-1 in singles and 5-3 in doubles.
The 42nd-ranked Rebels travel to Nashville for a fight against No. 33 Vanderbilt on Friday, March 15, starting at 3 p.m. CT.
