THE COURSE
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Reserve at Lake Keowee Golf Course spans 6,386 yards and will play as a par 72 for those in attendance this weekend in Clemson. The course is highlighted by the vast water feature that is Lake Keowee, with multiple creeks branching out from the main body to intersect with the course's fairways. There's a very strong finish to the round here, starting at the long par four 15th and ending at the 444-yard 18th, which serves as a tightly bunkered closer that runs parallel to the penultimate hole. It's features like these that have helped the Reserve at Lake Keowee earn the designation of being the No. 27 golf course in the state of South Carolina according to Top100GolfCourses.com.
REBELS IN THE RANKINGS
Ole Miss slotted into the No. 12 position overall in the latest Scoreboard Powered by Clippd, with the team also sitting 12th in the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll Rankings. The Rebel lineup will feature a Top 20 golfer in the Scoreboard individual rankings as junior Caitlyn Macnab holds the No. 19 spot. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native secured her third top 5 finish of the season after placing fifth at the Valspar Augusta Invitational.
LINDER NAMED SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
For the second time in her career, Sophie Linder was recognized as the SEC Women's Freshman of the week. The honor follows Linder's outstanding performance at the Valspar Augusta Invitational where she tied for a career-high sixth place in a field of 93 golfers. This marks the freshman's first top 10 finish and second top 20 placing of her collegiate career. In her opening round in Augusta, Linder shot a career-low 18 hole score of 66 (-6) which tallies her fifth round below par this season. To conclude the tournament, Linder shot rounds of 72 (E) and 75 (+3) to propel her to a three-round score of 213 (-3).
VALSPAR AUGUSTA INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Ole Miss came away with its second team title of the season, as the Rebels battled their way to earn the 2024 Valspar Augusta Invitational title. Capping off the weekend with a three-round score of 856 (-8), the second-lowest winning score in tournament history, the Rebels were an unstoppable force at the Forest Hills Golf Club. Ole Miss tallied a tournament-high 55 birdies, which marked 10 more than any other team in Augusta. Additionally, the Rebels led the field in par-5 scoring, shooting a whopping 19-under across two days. Much of the team's success can be credited to Natacha Host Husted, who earned her career-best finish tying for second place. After securing a career-low round score of 66 (-6) in the first round, the Rebel continued to blaze the train for the Rebels. Not far behind Host Husted was Caitlyn Macnab who secured her third top 5 finish of the season after placing fifth.
LAST TIME AT THE CLEMSON INVITATIONAL
The Rebels saw a perfect end to the team's 2022-23 regular season, taking home the Clemson Invitational title after finishing the weekend with a score of 856 (-8). The Rebels showed three straight rounds of strong play at the Reserve at Lake Keowee Course, ending the weekend as the only team in attendance to finish all three rounds below par. The team also finished the weekend ranked first in par-3 scoring (-6), along with tallying the second-most birdies (48) and second-most pars (179) in the field. Andrea Lignell led the charge for the Rebels as she grabbed her sixth top 5 finish of the year with a three-day score of 213 (-3). Ole Miss will look to defend its title in South Carolina this weekend and secure the third team championship this season.
