Men’s Golf Continues to Climb Through Round Two of Cabo Collegiate

LOS CABOS, Mexico – The Ole Miss men's golf team capitalized on its second day at the 2024 Cabo Collegiate as it wrapped with a 281 (-3) second round score. The Rebels will look to the final round to keep climbing from 8th place with a 5-over overall score.
The second round was led by Rebel duo Michael La Sasso and Tim Tillmanns, who together shot for an 8-under round. Both Rebels chipped in four birdies and one eagle at the Twin Dolphin Club on day two. Tillmanns tied his season-low round score of 66 (-5) for the third time this year. La Sasso put in a 68 (-3) second round, his ninth round in the 60s this season. Both Rebels will focus their efforts on the final round as La Sasso sits tied for 14th (-2) and Tillmanns is tied for 18th (-1) overall.
"Certainly, a better day for our group," head coach Chris Malloy said. "We had two guys play extremely well and lead the way which always helps. We need to end this week on a good note and try and have the best round of the day tomorrow."
Cameron Tankersley added a 72 (+1) second round for Ole Miss. The sophomore made three birdies on the day and now sits tied for 32nd at 3-over overall.
Tom Fischer fell in the second round with a 75 (+4) score, but was able to make back-to-back birdies on Holes 1 and 2 to give Ole Miss an extra push. Fischer will look to Tuesday to improve his tied for 47th placement at 5-over overall.
Patton Samuels rounded out scoring for Ole Miss as he sits tied for 66th at 10-over overall.
Ole Miss will be paired with Houston, Stanford and Tennessee for the final round of the Cabo Collegiate, which will tee off with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
