Women's Tennis Earns First Ranked Win of the Season Over No.34 LSU

Ole Miss (8-2, 2-0 SEC) started off strong in doubles with a dominant 6-1 finish by Leclercq-Ficher and Ludmila Kareisova on court two. By no surprise, 79th-ranked duo Briana Crowley and Ava Hrastar follow suit with a 6-3 ruling at doubles one, which secured the 1-0 lead for Ole Miss.
Emma Kette commanded the court in the sixth slot for singles, adding yet another win to her campaign, after the only straight set game of the match. The sophomore never took her foot off the gas, notching a final score of 6-2, 6-1. Kette remains undefeated in dual singles, taking all six matches on the season.
With the rest of the courts being forced to a third set, LSU (9-4, 1-2 SEC) fought back to tie the match at two a piece with wins on court three and five.
An electric start-to-finish match on court one, Kareisova pulled out the win, regaining the lead over the Tigers. This left court two and four down to the wire with the pressure, both nearing the end of their third sets.
Leclercq-Ficher reclaimed her flame after a 1-6 loss in the first set, making a big come back at the fourth position. She was relentless in her final few points, with a final score of 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. The Rebels clinched the match, and their undefeated home court advantage remains, improving to 6-0.
The Rebels grabbed their first ranked victory and second conference win of the season.
The 42nd-ranked Rebels will remain in Oxford, as No. 13 Texas A&M comes to town on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
