Men’s Tennis Falls in SEC Championship Matchup Against LSU
4/17/2024 | Men's Tennis
BATON ROUGE, La. – Ole Miss men's tennis saw their SEC Championship run come to an end on Wednesday, as the Rebels fell 4-1 to LSU at the LSU Tennis Complex.
The Rebels (12-15, 2-10 SEC) fought hard against the Tigers (14-12, 1-11) on their home courts, but strong play out of the gate from LSU helped pushed it to the victory.
The Tigers got to work quickly in the doubles portion of the match, earning 6-2 victories on courts two and three to secure the early advantage.
The lone Rebel point of the day came from senior Nikola Slavic who captured his 19th singles win of the season after dominating Aleksi Lofman in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, on court one.
The Tigers picked up the pace and saw straight set victories on courts two and four to make them one point away from the win.
After an intense battle on court five that was forced into the third set, Noah Schlagenhauf ultimately dropped his match, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, to cap off the matchup.
