FRANKLIN, Tenn. – No. 5 Ole Miss men's golf responded with a 276 (-8) second round to put Ole Miss in second place after 36 holes at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Kye Meeks secured one of the best rounds of the day out of the 74-player field with a career-low round of 66 to put himself tied for 3rd heading into the final round.
Ole Miss made 21 birdies on the day to put together one of the best rounds of the day out of the 14-team field. The Rebels continue to find success and are second in the field in par-5 scoring (-11).
"Today was certainly a step in the right direction," said head coach Chris Malloy. "We still need to be a little better around the greens and clean up some silly mistakes. I know our guys will be looking forward to ending this on a good note."
Meeks, a redshirt junior for Ole Miss, had a flawless day on the Vanderbilt Legends South Course. The Walnut, Mississippi, native went bogey-free for all 18 holes while making five birdies to earn his career-low round of 66. Competing individually, Patton Samuels went low for a 68 (-3) second round score. The sophomore continues to find success on the back-nine as he made his second eagle of the tournament on the par-5 Hole 17.
