Women’s Golf Completes First Tournament of Season at Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Ole Miss women's golf team concluded their opening event of the fall season, finishing the two-day tournament in 11th place with a scorecard of 869 (+17) at Yeamans Hall Club.
The Rebels attempted to shake off the rust following a lengthy four-month break, shooting a final round score of 291 (+7) to cap off the weekend in South Carolina.
Caitlyn Macnab wrapped up the week with the highest finish of the Rebel lineup, going 3-over par on the final day to finish the event even and in a tie for 13th place individually.
Freshman Kajsalotta Svarvar saved her best round for last in her collegiate debut as she shot a near perfect round, making five birdies, 12 pars and just one bogey. The Halmstad, Sweden, native's third round score of 67 (-4) helped her jump 33 spots in the leaderboard on the final day, earning her a 23rd place finish after tallying a total score of 215 (+2).
Nicole Gal and Sophie Linder each wrapped up the season opening in 50th place with a three-round scorecard of 221 (+8). Gal strung together a third-round score of 76 (+5) while the sophomore shot 3-over on the day.
Larissa Carrillo fired home a total score of 225 (+12) to finish her first collegiate tournament in 64th.
Competing individually, Filippa Sundquist boasted an outstanding showing in Charleston, going 1-over on the two days. The sophomore matched her first-round score of 71 (E) in the third to see herself into a tie for 18th.
Next up, the Rebels will travel to East Lansing, Michigan for the Mary Fossum Invitational set to run Sept. 22-23 at Forest Akers West.
