COURSE
Located on the campus of Michigan State University, the Forest Akers Golf Course is home to the Michigan State collegiate men's and women's golf teams. Voted as one of the best campus courses in the country for multiple years, Forest Akers West was chosen to host one of the 2024 NCAA DI women's golf regionals. The golf course also features a premier practice facility with PGA professionally-trained instructors and a 20,000 square-foot putting green.
LAST TIME OUT
Ole Miss women's golf team concluded their opening event of the fall season, finishing the two-day tournament in 11th place with a scorecard of 869 (+17) at the Cougar Classic. The Rebels attempted to shake off the rust following a lengthy four-month break, shooting a final round score of 291 (+7) to cap off the weekend in South Carolina. Caitlyn Macnab wrapped up the week with the highest finish of the Rebel lineup, going 3-over par on the final day to finish the event even and in a tie for 13th place individually. Competing individually, Filippa Sundquist boasted an outstanding showing in Charleston, going 1-over on the two days
FRESH FACES
Although this year's squad looks very different after the Rebels lost seven athletes from last season, head coach Kory Henkes was able to welcome a trio of touted freshman to join the returners in Caitlyn Macnab, Nicole Gal, Sophie Linder and Filippa Sundquist. The international newbies of Kajsalotta Svarvar and Larissa Carrillo will look to make an immediate impact for Ole Miss as the pair makes their send appearance this season in East Lansing, while Emerson Blair will support from Oxford as she waits for her opportunity to shine.
REBELS IN THE RANKINGS
Heading into the second event of the fall, the Rebels check in at No. 18 in the Golfweek Preseason Rankings, No. 21 in Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll Preseason Rankings and No. 24 in the Golf Channel Preseason Rankings. Caitlyn Macnab earned preseason All-America honors for the second consecutive year as she was recognized on the third-team by Golfweek and Golf Channel.
FALL SLATE
The Mary Fossum Invitational marks the second tournament for the Rebels this year as they competed in the Cougar Classic a couple of weekends ago. Following the team's trip to East Lansing, the team will then compete at the Illini Women's Invitational from Oct. 7-8 at the Medinah Country Club. The fall schedule then wraps up with the Rebels going to Wilmington, North Carolina for the Landfall Tradition, set to run Oct. 25-27.
