Men’s Golf Leads After 36 Holes in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Ole Miss men’s golf continued its strong start to the season firing a 13-under score of (267) on day two of the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. All five Rebels sit in red figures with three inside the top-10 after 36 holes.
Cameron Tankersley led the way on Saturday firing a bogey-free 66, placing him in a tie for second. Tankersley started his round off by birding the hole 4 and grabbed another on the par-3 seventh. He went out in 33 and would card two more birdies on 13 and 15.
“Another really solid round by our group today,” said head coach Chris Malloy. “I think one of the best things about this team is our ability to depend on any five of these guys to lead the way. We have to be sure to keep an aggressive mindset and attack this course like we have the first two rounds.”

Kye Meeks put together another solid round shooting two-under (68), placing him in a tie for fifth. Meeks also shot 33 over his first nine, making birdie on three after bogeying his opening hole. He would go back-to-back on eight and nine, then played his final nine holes at even par.
Cohen Trolio and Tom Fischer made up major ground on day two with Trolio jumping 30 spots and Fischer climbing 22 on the leaderboard. Trolio also shot a bogey-free 66, making three straight birdies on his front nine to shoot 32 going out. He carded his fourth birdie on the 13th and shot 34 coming in.
Fischer came out of the gates hot birding four of his first five holes for a round of 67.
Michael La Sasso grinded out a one-over 71 and remains in contention at four under and tied for eighth.
